Everton officials intervene after AC Milan recently watched David Moyes favourite

Contract decisions made up a large part of David Moyes’ early spell back at Everton last season and more futures need to be decided over the coming months.

Everton have already been able to secure some of their top players down to new deals, with the likes of Jordan Pickford and James Tarkowski putting pen to paper.

There remain a number of players who are currently on track to leave at the end of the season as a free agents.

Given how light Moyes’ options already are, the 62-year-old will be keen to keep some of those players around.

It has been suggested that Everton have held contract talks with James Garner on the back of what has been a much-improved season from the midfielder.

The 24-year-old has perhaps been Everton’s top performer throughout the campaign and there has now been another update on his future.

Moyes has been so impressed with Garner this season and it is no surprise when the midfielder has taken the step forward that he has.

With his contract running down to its final months, the Blues will be keen to secure him to a new deal amid plenty of interest from elsewhere.

According to one insider over social media, Everton are working towards an agreement with Garner as they look to reward him for his recent displays.

With interest arriving from far and wide, it has been claimed that AC Milan have even recently watched Garner in action.

Garner is said to have impressed the senior officials on Merseyside, with talks well underway.

It must be noted that Everton have a one-year extension clause in Garner’s contract. So, he will not be leaving on a free either way this summer.

However, the club are keen to reward him for the hard work he has shown this season in dominating the midfield area.

Garner is showing captaincy attributes at Everton this season and his availability is another bonus for Moyes in a testing season like this.

It was suggested that Everton and Garner were apart on their salary demands, but recent performances have certainly handed Garner the power in negotiations.
