Everton defender Ashley Young has now sent a four-word message to teammate Jack Harrison following Saturday’s 3-0 win over Bournemouth.

Harrison scored a ‘spectacular’ goal to put Everton 2-0 up, earning the £90k-a-week winger a place in Garth Crooks’ Team of the Week.

Indeed, after some good work on the wing, Harrison’s teasing cross was punched away by Bournemouth keeper Neto, before Ukrainian international Mykolenko maintained the pressure with another ball into the box.

The Cherries’ stopper opted once again to punch the ball, only for it to land at the feet of 26-year-old Jack Harrison, who’s looping left-footed effort curled in off the underside of the bar.

Young and Harrison banter indicative of improved atmosphere at Everton after rocky start to season

It was Harrison’s first goal for the Toffees since his summer move on a season-long loan from Championship side Leeds United, and his Everton teammate Ashley Young has joked that his effort may have been intended as a cross.

At full-time, Young took to his Instagram account, posting: “Big 3 points but it’s been coming! Eat your own words. That was our chance at home!!! Onto the next one.”

Harrison commented with several clapping emojis to congratulate Young on his performance, before the versatile Everton veteran replied with a humorous take on his teammates’ goal.

The 38-year-old responded: “Jackoooo shot or cross.”

There is no doubt that Harrison intended to shoot, and it was indeed a ‘spectacular’ effort, but it is refreshing to see the Everton squad interacting, suggesting a good team spirit in the dressing room.

Saturday’s 3-0 win was much needed after last week’s defeat to Luton Town, especially heading into the international break.

Indeed, no doubt it was one of the most solid-looking displays of the season so far for Sean Dyche’s side and convincingly earning all three points from a must-win fixture will be a huge boost for the Blues.
