‘Astronomical’ offer now required to sign Everton target this summer

Everton have to go for it this summer, but one target would seemingly only move for a bank-busting offer.

After such a terrible finish to the 2025/26 season, Everton need a big transfer window.

David Moyes oversaw a run of seven games without a win to finish the last campaign, leaving a lot of fans disgruntled.

If you were Angus Kinnear who would you be going all out for this summer? 💰

He did not rotate much in the final weeks of the season, leading to suggestions that the manager didn’t trust the options he had in reserve.

The general level of quality therefore needs increasing, and a number of positions are said to be on the agenda.

Left-back is said to be one position Everton are looking to address, even despite Vitalii Mykolenko being likely to sign a new contract.

And Myles Lewis-Skelly had been touted as a potential addition – but a new update from Ben Jacobs all but rules out any transfer.

Further doubt cast on Myles Lewis-Skelly to Everton

Lewis-Skelly has had quite the turnaround over the past couple of months.

He had been warming the bench fairly frequently at Arsenal, until Mikel Arteta handed him an opportunity against Bournemouth in April. And a couple of weeks later, he got the chance to play in midfield against Fulham.

Lewis-Skelly impressed, then played in midfield again against Atletico Madrid.

These few games were the catalyst for him, and he ended up playing his way into the starting XI for the Champions League final for the Gunners.

In the space of just a few weeks, Lewis-Skelly’s standing in the Arsenal squad has changed dramatically, and journalist Ben Jacobs makes it clear that any exit for him this summer is now unlikely.

He said on the Market Madness podcast while speaking about Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall being linked with Manchester United: “They’ve got Myles Lewis-Skelly (on their radar) as well.

“The difference with Lewis-Skelly is it’s gone the other way (to Hall). Three or four months ago, Lewis-Skelly was prepared to explore options. Man United and also Chelsea were two of the clubs to keep an eye on. But suddenly, Lewis-Skelly starts the Champions League final and in midfield, and things are a whole lot calmer.

“As long as Lewis-Skelly is happy at Arsenal, and Arsenal are happy with Lewis-Skelly and only something astronomical is going to change that situation. So a few months back Lewis Skelly was maybe agitating a bit more to at least explore options. Now that’s not really the case.”

So for Everton, there is next to no chance of landing Lewis-Skelly given how the picture has changed.

He would have been very nice to have, with that versatility allowing him to play left-back and central midfield.

But the Toffees surely are about to go making the ‘astronomical’ offer Jacobs talks about to prise him away from the Emirates.

Hopefully, Everton can still bring in a left-back of real quality this summer, because the position needs attention and, at the very least, Mykolenko really needs someone pushing him.
