Everton signed Demarai Gray during the summer of 2021 for a bargain fee worth just £1.7m.
It turned out to be an inspired piece of business from Everton, as Demarai Gray netted six goals whilst laying on five assists.
Ultimately, when Frank Lampard left, Gray’s Everton career hit a wall as Sean Dyche didn’t really fancy him.
Gray spent a couple of years with Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia, and now he’s back in England with Championship promotion hopefuls Birmingham City.
He was in action in their 1-0 against Swansea City yesterday, and here’s what supporters had to say about the former Everton winger.

Birmingham City fans give verdict on former Everton winger Demarai Gray
Gray is actually yet to get off the mark for Birmingham City, however, he’s been producing some stellar performances and many voted him the Man of the Match against Swansea yesterday.
Birmingham fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to give their verdict on the former Toffee.
“Honestly I think Demarai Gray is still a Premier League quality player, he looks as good if not better for Blues than the first time he played for us,” @timsenna posted.
“Gray is an absolute baller, his goal will come soon,” @Dedoid001 said.
@RBCFC23 added: “Yeah, he covers so much of the pitch & does the defensive work beautifully, always looks to take his man on & break into the box. Just wish he took the chance to smash the ball into the net and get his first goal back home.”
“Still more time and experimenting needed for us to figure out our best attacking 4, the only player that seems to be justified at the current moment would be Gray imo,” @BCFC_Data commented.
Demarai Gray stats vs Swansea City
Gray has already established himself as a talismanic figure for Birmingham, who have hopes of gaining promotion to the Premier League.
The Jamaica international has only registered one assist so far this term, but he’s been a consistent chance maker, and he made one key pass yesterday, according to Sofascore.
- 90 minutes
- 50 touches
- 1 key pass
- 3 successful dribbles
- 7 duels won
- 1 tackle
As well as going forward, Gray was proficient going backwards, winning a whopping seven duels for the Blues.
The West Midlanders currently reside just one point from third, so it’s been a decent start to the season.
