There was a lot of movement in and out of Everton in the summer transfer window.

David Moyes had to rebuild the squad, with a plethora of players leaving upon the expiry of their contracts.

A total of 17 players left Everton, granted, some of those were loan deals ending, like Armando Broja and Jesper Lindstrom.

One of the first-teamers who departed after a long period on Merseyside is really impressing his new manager and produced a super performance this weekend.

Daniel Farke so impressed by former Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Dominic Calvert-Lewin left Everton in the summer and joined newly-promoted Leeds United as a free agent.

Calvert-Lewin scored his first goal for Leeds in a 3-1 away win at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, and manager Daniel Farke heaped praise on him.

“Dominic is a proven goalscorer, he has the instinct of where he has to be. He is outstanding with his head.

“It was never in doubt, we don’t even have to speak about it. He is a proven player at this level, pretty mature, leads the line and is smart in his tactical behaviour.

“He’s a goal threat up front, it’s just a matter of getting him fit today. An impressive away performance, full compliment to him.”

Dominic Calvert-Lewin happy to ‘shut’ critics up

Speaking after the game, Calvert-Lewin admitted he was happy to shut the naysayers up with a brilliant headed goal.

I think they had a chant going [about me],” the 28-year-old told BBC Match of the Day. “I heard my name and I thought, ‘Why are they singing my name?’

“Obviously, the best way to shut them up is to score a goal at that end and point to my shirt. Strikers feed off goals – it gives you confidence. It’s nice to get my first goal for the club and I’ll look to build on it.”

Calvert-Lewin’s Leeds debut didn’t go to plan, but it seems he’s put that behind him and is now full of confidence having netted his first goal.
