Everton’s summer wish to sign Ben White from Arsenal may already have gone up in flames.

Sunday’s draw against Crystal Palace showed yet again just how much Everton are crying out for a new right-back.

David Moyes has persisted with centre-back Jake O’Brien on the right side of the defence, and it is costing the Blues.

No win in any of Everton’s last five games… what would you say to David Moyes? 🫣

Everton hold an interest in White, but the injury he suffered at the weekend may have ruled out a possible summer swoop.

Ben White injury blow may rule out Everton transfer

Jamie Carragher heavily criticised White just a matter of weeks ago for some of his shoddy defending in an Arsenal shirt.

It now looks unlikely that White will play again for a number of months following a potential ligament injury picked up at the weekend.

No official word has emerged on the extent of his injury, but the defender left the London Stadium on Sunday in a leg brace.

“Ben White just hangs his leg there. It’s poor from the right-back,” said Gary Neville during the game.

Not only does Neville fear the defender is set to miss some time through a potential medial ligament issue, but he has also blamed the 28-year-old for causing his own injury.

“That’s easily prevented if you go in strong and with a real sturdy block. He’s hung his leg out in pretty weak fashion, you’re asking for trouble.”

There is a belief that Arsenal are open to selling White this summer, with the injury blow possibly hindering their ability to cash in on the defender.

It is clear just how in-need of a new right-back the Toffees are and this may have them looking elsewhere in the market.

Despite having Nathan Patterson and Seamus Coleman on the bench, Moyes continues to look no further than O’Brien.
