Everton’s first summer transfer window under The Friedkin Group was not exactly a roaring success.
The prospect of Everton potentially securing European football ahead of the latest summer window offers the club more hope for even better signings.
David Moyes has barely used some of the nine signings made last summer, but this summer will offer the Blues an opportunity to take the next step in hope of really pushing the club forward.
Thoughts on potentially signing Ben White? 🤔
However, as Everton are targeting Ben White as their main option at right-back, it has to be questioned how the club expect to realistically improve.

Everton eye Ben White as target for the summer
White looks set to move on from Arsenal in the summer, with the Blues considering him as an option at right-back.
For the last 15 months, Moyes has used centre-back Jake O’Brien at the right-back position, which has held Everton back without a creative option at full-back.
Which of these players do you want to see Everton SIGN in 2026?
The following names have been suggested by fans on TalkingPoints…
An update from iNews is suggesting that right-back is viewed as the priority position this summer that the Toffees are desperate to improve.
For most fans, this will come as positive news, but the suggestion that White is the player being eyed as the main target should raise a lot of eyebrows.
Just like O’Brien, the Arsenal defender is a natural centre-back who has been shifted out wide to play at right-back.
White has been heavily criticised by Jamie Carragher recently, with the 28-year-old’s defensive ability coming under fire.
“The reason you know Ben White doesn’t know he’s there is, he’s only just seen him and he’s already looking back at Madueke to say ‘This is your fault, I didn’t even see him’,” said Carragher.
Ben White is not an upgrade on Jake O’Brien
This summer, Everton need to target a right-back who can overlap the winger and help with the attacking play.
O’Brien has not been able to do that, but the statistics also highlight that White would also not offer that given what he has shown in north London.
Using Squawka’s comparison matrix, the 28-year-old – having played fewer games – has struggled to provide the Gunners with much of an attacking input.

Combining his poor offensive numbers, White also fails to offer the same defensive solidity that O’Brien has been able to show.
The possible signing of White is unlikely to fill Everton fans with much optimism and it has to be asked whether it would even be an improvement on what they have already got.
