Iliman Ndiaye’s future at Everton is coming under real scrutiny before the summer window has even opened.

The thought of big player departures at Everton was seemingly a thing of the past following The Friedkin Group’s takeover in late 2024.

Everton remain hopeful of keeping Ndiaye despite the Senegal international rejecting the contract offers placed on the table by the hierarchy on Merseyside.

Given how big player power now is in football, the likes of Angus Kinnear deserve a lot of praise for not bowing down to the pressure from Ndiaye and his camp.

Everton deserve credit for not giving in to Iliman Ndiaye demands

Manchester United are showing an interest in Ndiaye this summer, with his future on Merseyside coming under scrutiny.

The Athletic have reported that Ndiaye and his camp have knocked back a number of offers from Everton over a new contract.

Everton News reported late last year that Everton were open to rewarding Ndiaye with a new contract over the coming months.

How likely do you think it is that Everton could lose Iliman Ndiaye this summer? 😬

Surely a player of his quality will want to showcase himself on the top stage 🤩

However, the 26-year-old is not showing any signs of putting pen to paper on improved terms.

The main issue behind this is his agency’s demand of a release clause in his proposed new contract.

Naturally, this could open the door to an earlier than planned exit from Merseyside, with his camp hoping for a lower than market value figure.

This is where you have to give credit where it is due to the likes of Kinnear, who has recognised the favourable position Everton remain in over negotiations.

Everton value Ndiaye at around €80m (£70m) having recently seen Anthony Gordon move for a similar figure to Barcelona.

Giving in to the demands of the player’s camp would have included a release clause significantly lower than that, which would not be in Everton’s interest.

The Toffees remain in the driving seat, with three years remaining on Ndiaye’s current deal.

Kinnear and the Everton board must remain firm in any further negotiations, with Everton’s best interests needing to come out on top.
