Michael Ball has heaped praise on Beto for his performance against Brentford.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, the former Everton defender has labelled Beto as ‘outstanding’ for his contribution to the club’s first win of the campaign.

The striker joined the Toffees from Udinese this summer and made an instant impact as he scored on his debut in the Carabao Cup victory over Doncaster Rovers.

Beto has since started all three of their matches in the Premier League, but is yet to score his first top flight goal.

However, the forward has looked really promising up top and has been tipped to be a very good signing, with Ball particularly impressed with him in the English capital.

“I thought Beto was brilliant,” the pundit said. “All he was missing was a goal, he played outstanding and caused a lot of problems and that’s the level we want at the football club.”

Will Sean Dyche decide to start Dominic Calvert-Lewin over Beto after his Brentford goal?

Beto took Dominic Calvert-Lewin‘s place in Everton’s starting line-up following his injury against Aston Villa and his performances have kept him in the side despite his teammate’s return to action.

However, Calvert-Lewin put on his own quality display from the bench against Brentford as he netted his first of the campaign to secure the three points for the visitors.

The England international will be eager to reclaim his place in the team against Luton Town this weekend, while there has also been talk of Sean Dyche opting for two strikers in the future.

It definitely seems like a good idea for the Toffees given their previous struggles in front of goal, though it would be surprising to see him change the line-up that put on their best 90 minutes of the season.

Calvert-Lewin could well be handed a start in the Merseyside club’s clash with Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening, while he could force his way back in against Luton if he performs just as well against Unai Emery’s side.
