Everton’s dream of European football next season is all but over – and Charly Alcaraz has every right to be annoyed at his management today.

The Toffees have passed up a glorious chance to go level on points with Brentford, and now have a mountain to climb to play in the Conference League next season.

Which Everton player frustrated you the most against Crystal Palace? 😬

Everton started so well at Selhurst Park, scoring through James Tarkowski in the first five minutes.

But Palace equalised through Ismaila Sarr.

Then Everton started the second-half well as well, going back in front thanks to a great finish by Beto.

But Jean-Philippe Mateta hit back for the hosts, who then pushed hard for a winner. They couldn’t find one, and the spoils were shared.

It was another frustrating day at the office for Everton, and that was definitely the case for Charly Alcaraz.

Everton had plenty of chances to win today’s game comfortably.

The Toffees might have been out of sight, and one man who left his shooting boots at home today was Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

He’s had a great first season for the Toffees. But today wasn’t his day, as he missed two glorious opportunities inside the area – one in each half.

But David Moyes left him on right until basically the end of the game.

Dewsbury-Hall was finally replaced in the 94th minute, with Charly Alcaraz his replacement.

This was actually a bit of an insult to Alcaraz, who must have been itching to get on today seeing his Everton teammates squander multiple chances.

Dewsbury-Hall should have been hooked much sooner, but Moyes persisted. He also did the same with Iliman Ndiaye, who was also guilty of another poor performance today.

For Alcaraz, it is certainly food for thought.

Has that just ended Everton’s hopes of European qualification? 😫

His side were chasing a goal, but his manager didn’t trust him enough to throw him on a lot sooner, despite Dewsbury-Hall clearly not playing well today.

The Argentine was surely the best-placed player to make a difference in those final knockings of the game.

Once he finally did get on, he obviously barely had an impact.

We’ll see what happens with him this summer, but with every passing game it’s looking like he’ll move on in search of regular football.
