Everton are continuing to steam ahead in the transfer market despite recent financial restrictions, with Kevin Thelwell seemingly confident that his side are safe from further punishment.
After all, three acquisitions are seemingly not enough for the director of football, who still has a winger high on his agenda.
However, amidst interest in their star man, it seems that he is also preparing for the worst elsewhere within his squad.
That would therefore explain this sudden interest in a South American defender from a European club…
Galatasaray scramble over Davinson Sánchez
With Everton’s interest in Davinson Sanchez having already been outlined, this latest update by Turkish outlet Sporx helps to further the story, delving into Galatasaray’s reaction to this proposed move.
Those earlier rumours suggested that the Toffees had actually already bid for the Colombia international, who will play in the Copa America final this weekend, but their €18m (£15m) is some distance from the €25m (£21m) the Turkish outfit are demanding.

He only joined the club last summer from Tottenham Hotspur.
However, this fresh update has actually suggested that Galatasaray had no intention to purchase a new centre-back this summer, but are now scrambling in the market to find one following Everton’s interest.
This suggests there is credence to the rumours, coincidentally coinciding with Manchester United pushing for Jarrad Branthwaite.
Sean Dyche wants to bolster Everton’s defence
It seems that, despite Jarrad Branthwaite’s Everton future remaining uncertain, but by all means still at Goodison Park, Sean Dyche is seeking to mitigate such a dire possibility anyway with this particular deal.
And regardless of whether the 22-year-old was to depart this summer or not, another centre-back is definitely needed after Ben Godfrey’s exit and whilst Mason Holgate’s future remains uncertain.
The £21m fee being mentioned is somewhat steep, but Sanchez was once expected to be the biggest and brightest young defender in European football.
He boasted some of the finest ball-playing statistics within his division, having scored six and maintained an 89% pass accuracy during his final campaign in the Eredivisie, winning Ajax’s player of the year.
During that 2016/17 season, only one other defender scored more goals, and no player in the entire league averaged more accurate passes per game, prompting Spurs to break their record transfer to sign him.

Dyche will not be desperate for him to use his short passing all too much, but his progression is useful, blended with his fine physical attributes he boasts which are eerily similar to Branthwaite.
