Everton’s dire start to the Premier League campaign has many fans fearing that they will once again be subjected to another miserable relegation battle.
It’s been an exhausting few years for those around Goodison Park, who have continued to follow their club through some of the darkest times in its history.
However, at last there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel, with their new stadium and owner set to be in place in the coming months.
Even with that, some are not quite convinced.
TalkSPORT pundit changes his mind on Everton relegation prediction
Speaking on talkSPORT just yesterday, the subject of Darren Ambrose’s affections on this particular afternoon was on the other side of Stanley Park.
After all, he was effusive in his praise for Arne Slot, hailing Liverpool as title contenders already.
However, once finished with them, he was swift to laud Everton manager Sean Dyche too for the work he has done in completely changing his mind.

Referencing the relegation battle, Ambrose admitted: ‘Yes, Southampton is in mine [bottom three]. I think, who did I say at the start of the season? I think I said Southampton, Leicester because Leicester, we didn’t know whether they were going to get a points deduction or not, but I said those two. Everton was in mine.
‘I think it is going to be out of Everton and Wolves. I think Everton might just have enough to stay up with Sean Dyche at the helm, I think, he always has enough.’
Dan Friedkin could cement Everton’s safety in January
Already Everton’s January transfer plans have started to emerge, and that is before Dan Friedkin’s Everton takeover has even been completed.
The hope is that the American will not only wipe the Toffees free of debt, but hand Dyche and Kevin Thelwell a solid chunk of funds to revolutionise the squad.

Just as Eddie Howe was allowed to make a few key additions to drag Newcastle United to safety, hopefully Friedkin can locate a few similar signings to achieve a similar outcome.
If Everton end up in the Champions League places by the end of the next Premier League campaign, something will certainly have gone right.
At this moment in time, the Toffees are clearly embroiled in a relegation battle.
However, by the end of the campaign, it’s hoped, and expected, that they will be nowhere near it.
