Everton are in the market for a right-back and Manchester City’s Kyle Walker is emerging as a leading target.

David Moyes is interested in signing Kyle Walker as he prepares for the impending departure of Ashley Young.

Seamus Coleman isn’t getting any younger, so there is a pressing need to recruit a first-choice right-back.

Walker, who is under contract until 2026, is available for sale after Pep Guardiola excluded him from the Club World Cup squad.

But, any forthcoming deal would require his substantial wages to be covered, so if Everton can’t reach an agreement, here’s the back-up they’re looking at.

Everton have four right-backs on their shortlist, with Walker thought to be the priority option.

West Ham United’s Vladimir Coufal is also on Moyes’ radar, as is Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters, who is set to become a free agent.

Now, there is a new name surfacing, as according to the Guardian, Fulham star Kenny Tete is of interest to the Toffees.

Tete, like Walker-Peters, is soon to be a free agent upon the expiry of his contract at Craven Cottage and would represent smart business.

The 14-cap Netherlands international has amassed 89 Premier League appearances during his four-year stay in England, so it’d be a pretty risk-free signing.

Tete snubbed new Fulham deal

Fulham were in talks to extend Tete’s contract, however, it appears no breakthrough has been made in negotiations.

According to BBC Sport, the 29-year-old is seeking improved pay on a two or three-year deal, so Everton would have to offer those terms to prise him away from the capital.

Tete would be a much smarter addition than Walker, as it wouldn’t break the current wage structure at Finch Farm.

Plus, he is in the prime years of his career and isn’t on the decline.
