With Everton still heavily involved in this transfer window, Harrison Armstrong’s future will be a subject of interest.

The 18-year-old has burst onto the scene under David Moyes as the midfielder put up a strong showing in the EFL Cup for Everton.

His plaudits were deserved as Everton fans said Armstrong is similar to Rodri, and at such a young age, he was a standout for the Toffees.

But despite the heavy praise on the youngster, it’s quite clear that Moyes doesn’t want to rush the starlet’s development.

With this considered, the Scotsman might loan Armstrong out, but this shocking statistic should change his mind.

Since last season only Dwight McNeil has provided more assists at Everton than Harrison Armstrong

The lack of creativity in the squad last season was clear, as the likes of Jack Grealish and Tyler Dibling were very much needed.

Although Armstrong isn’t in the category of creative, with his game being more defensive, his quality goes beyond this after grabbing two assists against Mansfield.

Seamus Coleman says Armstrong has ‘personality’ Everton need, and from the beginning of last season, he’s actually one of the most creative players in the squad.

In a remarkable situation, only Dwight McNeil has provided more assists for Everton than Armstrong since the start of last campaign.

This comes despite Armstrong playing just 273 minutes and spending the majority of the last campaign out on loan, and it really says it all to Moyes.

It’s so obvious that Harrison Armstrong must stay at Everton

If this doesn’t suggest that Armstrong deserves a place in this season’s squad, it’s hard to see what does.

The youngster has played nowhere near as many minutes, and yet he is one of the most creative outlets from a defensive position.

Of course, the likes of Grealish and Dibling will probably overtake this count, but it can’t be denied, it’s impressive.

The 18-year-old looks to be the all-action midfielder Moyes has been after, and with AFCON potentially keeping Armstrong at Everton, the Scotsman needs to keep it that way.
