Everton are back in the win column after beating Aston Villa 1-0 on their own patch.

Thierno Barry earned rave reviews for his performance, as he was the match-winner for Everton with a superb chipped goal.

Barry has really grown in confidence over the last few weeks and may have done enough to call off the search for a new striker.

Jordan Pickford was also hailed for his heroic save in the second-half, denying Morgan Rogers a wondergoal.

Harrison Armstrong’s name was mentioned in David Moyes’ post-match interview, too, as he’s been subjected to rumours that he could return to Preston on loan.

Here’s what Moyes had to say about the teenage midfielder.

David Moyes hints that Harrison Armstrong could stay at Everton

Since returning from his Preston loan earlier this month, Armstrong has quickly become a regular starter for the Toffees.

Moyes admitted that his preference is for Armstrong to return to Preston before the end of the window, as he feels it’ll be better for his development.

But, there’s been no final decision on that front, and the Scotsman has been closely assessing his performances.

The Scotsman noted that it was a big game for the 18-year-old today, with Idrissa Gana Gueye due to return from AFCON next week, and it sounds like he may have done enough to remain at the club for the remainder of the season.

David Moyes responds when asked about if Everton will make any signings

Transfers are the hot topic at the moment, and Moyes was, of course, asked whether Everton will be active in the transfer market this month.

He said: “We’re trying but whether we get anything at the end of the line, I don’t know. The club would like to add players but it’s a difficult market right now.”

Everton target Ivan Toney

Everton are believed to be eyeing a move to sign Noa Lang from Napoli, who could join as competition to Jack Grealish.

The Toffees are also being linked with Youssef En-Nesyri, although he’s reportedly unsure of a move to England.

A telling couple of weeks await the Merseysiders.
