Everton are closing in on their second signing of the summer transfer window.
After Carlos Alcaraz, it looks like Thierno Barry will be Everton’s next signing as talks are progressing with Villarreal.
Barry netted 19 goals for Villarreal and Basel last season and is widely regarded as one of the best young strikers on the continent.
David Moyes and his chiefs aren’t resting on their laurels, though, as they are immediately turning their attention to other areas of the pitch.
With that said, it’s just come to light that Everton are lining up a bid for a Championship star.

Everton line bid for Sheffield United’s Michael Cooper
Everton are in the market for a goalkeeper this summer transfer window following the departures of Joao Virginia and Asmir Begovic.
The Toffees did look at Walter Benitez, but Premier League rivals Crystal Palace have managed to land the Argentina international’s signature.
Sheffield United’s Michael Cooper was on Moyes’ radar last month and now, according to Alan Nixon, Everton are lining up a £5m bid.
The offer will have add-ons on top, but even then, it’s unlikely to be accepted by the Blades, who awarded Cooper their Player of the Season award last term.
How Cooper feels about a move to Everton
Nixon explains that Sheffield United want significantly more than the £5m Everton are offering, so the Friedkins will have to write a much bigger cheque if they’re to land the 25-year-old.
Cooper isn’t in any rush to leave Bramall Lane, either, having only completed a transfer from Plymouth Argyle last summer.
The shot-stopper doesn’t want to leave for a club where he’s not the guaranteed number one, and indeed, Jordan Pickford will be the first name on the team sheet next season.
So, as it stands, Cooper to Everton doesn’t seem very likely.
