Everton had a pretty chaotic summer transfer window as they had to pivot from a lot of their top targets.

The Toffees ended the summer with nine new signings, so it was a really productive window with lots of quality added to the squad.

Jack Grealish is already showing his quality after joining on a season-long loan deal from Manchester City.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has also been fantastic and scored his first goal for Everton against Wolves on the weekend.

Tyler Dibling has also joined the attack after a £40m move from Southampton, however, it’s just come to light that Moyes actually wanted a different winger.

David Moyes wanted Francisco Conceicao before Tyler Dibling

Everton were in the market for a right-winger all summer and it took until August 25th to complete the signing of Dibling.

Interestingly, according to The Athletic, Dibling wasn’t Moyes’ top target, it was actually Francisco Conceicao.

Conceicao netted seven times whilst laying on six assists for Juventus last term and he decided to make his loan move permanent instead of a switch to Merseyside

Johan Bakayoko was also eyed, but he chose RB Leipzig, and Malick Fofana stayed at Lyon despite the Toffees being willing to meet his wage demands.

Tyler Dibling has the potential to be even better than Francisco Conceicao

If Russell Martin’s prediction for Dibling comes true, then there’s a good chance he will surpass Conceicao and be an even better signing for Everton.

Speaking to Gary Lineker on The Rest is Football earlier this year, Martin said: “He’s the most talented player I’ve ever seen – ever worked with. I worked with James Maddison at that age at Norwich, he was outstanding.

“Tyler has every capability to go and play for England and at a top level for a very long time.

“He’s powerful, he’s really quick, both feet, can shoot. I worked with Harry Kane and physically the stuff I’ve seen him do at 18 in the Premier League with people just bouncing off him – he has something I’ve not seen in a British player in a long time.

“He’ll play as a No.8 or a No.10 eventually, but he’s 18 so we played him out wide and he was incredible.

“He can play wide, we played him as a false nine in pre-season and he was our best player.”
