Everton play host to West Ham United on Monday night.

After consecutive defeats to Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers, Everton will be desperate to bounce back with a win in front of their own supporters.

David Moyes’ side are up against a struggling West Ham United tomorrow, however, Nuno Espirito Santo will be in the dugout after replacing Graham Potter.

So they will likely be a totally different challenge with Nuno looking to frustrate the Toffees in a low block set-up.

Speaking ahead of the games, Moyes has made a pretty surprising admission about one of his summer signings.

David Moyes lifts lid on Adam Aznou

Vitali Mykolenko has been plagued by injuries this season, so you’d think £10m summer signing Adam Aznou would come in to replace him.

However, Moyes has selected James Garner in that role and against Wolves, he even went for Seamus Coleman over the Morocco international.

Asked why Aznou hasn’t been involved despite a really productive loan spell at Real Valladolid last season, Moyes admitted that he’s simply not ready.

“He’s got a bit to do before he’s probably going to be ready for the first team at the moment,” the Scotsman told reporters.

“But we were aware of that when we brought him in.”

What David Moyes said about Adam Aznou back in July

As soon as Everton signed Aznou, Moyes was quick to come out and explain that he won’t be a regular from the off.

“This boy’s a young boy, maybe not quite ready yet,” the Everton manager said.

“But we hope he will be shortly and yeah we see a lot of good things in him. Technically very good. Athletic. Might need just a little bit to get himself built up and ready for the Premier League.

“So we won’t be putting him under any pressure and we won’t be giving any guarantees to the supporters that he’s going to be seen right away.

“We’ll wait and observe him ourselves but we’ve heard lots of good things about him and we’ve seen what we’ve seen we like, so let’s hope it works out.”

The 19-year-old is yet to play a single minute for the Everton first-team, but he has played for the under-21s.
