Everton are just a couple of weeks away from their first Premier League game of the new season – and David Moyes still needs a few new faces.

It has been a challenging summer for the club so far regarding incomings, with Moyes recently admitting Everton have struggled to sign new players.

The lack of European football has been stinging Everton, but David Moyes and The Friedkin Group have still managed to secure three new signings and turn Carlos Alcaraz’s loan move permanent.

Moyes is desperate for a new right winger, after declining to sign Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom after their loan moves.

And one player who seems to be a top target right now for Everton is Tyler Dibling.

Everton have seen one bid for Dibling rejected, and last night, Moyes was asked about the situation.

Dibling was a shining light last season in a struggling Southampton team.

The expectation has long been that the teenager would leave the club this summer, with a host of teams interested.

Everton acted on their interest last week by lodging a bid.

Southampton knocked it back, but Everton are expected to return with a second offer.

Last night, ahead of the game with Manchester United, Moyes was actually asked for the ‘latest’ on the Dibling situation.

He replied: “Nothing I can sort of bring you up to date with anyway, that’s for sure.”

Moyes then broke into a wry smile, as he moved on to the next question. Whether he knew more than he was letting on is anyone’s guess.

How much money Southampton want for Dibling

It was thought that Everton’s first bid for Dibling was worth about £27 million.

This fell a fair way short of Southampton’s valuation of the player, which talkSPORT have reported is ‘north of £40 million’.

But Everton will hope to secure the youngster for less than that.

But to pay lower, it may well be that they have to agree to a sell-on clause for Southampton, who will surely believe in Dibling’s potential to become a top star later in his career.

But Everton just need to get to work quickly, and get Dibling through the door if he’s the player they really want.
