Everton’s summer transfer window is testing David Moyes’ patience despite just landing left-back Adam Aznou.

The United States pre-season tour is now well underway, with Everton taking on West Ham United on Wednesday evening.

Aznou could now join up with his new teammates ahead of their final game against Manchester United at the weekend.

But Moyes is demanding even more Everton signings from the Friedkins following a number of free agent exits last month.

During their time across the pond, Moyes has not held back in voicing his thoughts on the club’s transfer moves this summer.

And in his latest press conference, the 62-year-old has issued his very honest thoughts on how Farhad Moshiri’s time at the club may be coming back to haunt them.

David Moyes shares Everton’s transfer struggles

Aznou admitted Moyes persuaded him to join Everton after holding positive talks with the 62-year-old manager.

However, it has not been as straightforward for Moyes with some other players.

Speaking to the media from Chicago on Tuesday, Moyes shared some of the difficulties Everton have faced in getting deals over the line.

“The one thing I’ll do is I’ll tell the fans straight, and I’m telling it straight at the moment, we’re having a bit of a struggle getting ones in quickly,” said Moyes.

“My first thought is yes, I’m surprised, because I think Everton’s such a big club, with great traditions and the new stadium’s an exciting move for us.

“But when you think again about it, we’ve been in or around the relegation positions for the last five years, not far off the bottom, so maybe there’s been reasons for it.”

Moyes wants nine players signed at Everton before the end of the transfer window on 1 September.

Given the number of players that left the club last month, it is understandable to see the 62-year-old pushing so hard for new arrivals.

Everton performed well in the first half of their game against Bournemouth at the weekend, but a lack of squad depth cost them in the second 45, with a lack of rotation proving an issue.

Everton are going to have to be patient in the market

Unfortunately for Everton fans, it looks as if this summer’s transfer activity is going to go right down to the wire.

Moyes is expected to try and convince Jack Grealish to sign over the coming weeks, with Everton keen to land the Manchester City winger.

But Everton are awaiting a decision from Malick Fofana, who is believed to be holding out for a Champions League offer.

If players are not fully convinced on joining Everton then missing out on those players may not be the worst thing.

Moyes will want players who are fully invested in the project on Merseyside and who are ready to fight for the shirt.

Ultimately, Everton may miss out on some quality players, but Moyes will be keen to get the right characters on board for the new season.
