Everton and Manchester City played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at Hill Dickinson Stadium, but there is talk of yet another VAR controversy.

The Toffees were just seconds away from taking three huge points, after mounting a brilliant comeback.

Who was your Man of the Match as Everton settle for a point? 🤝

But Jeremy Doku equalised right at the death, to potentially end Everton’s European hopes.

It was another sickener for the Toffees, who’ve now conceded injury-time goals in each of the last three games.

Everton showed superb character to come from 1-0 down to lead 3-1. But they were made to pay for not creating a bigger deficit and being more clinical.

Frustratingly, there is yet more talk about VAR, after a challenge by Bernardo Silva went unpunished.

Evertonians have grown rather sick of VAR this season.

There have been several controversies, and just last week Everton spoke with the PGMO to raise concerns about officiating standards.

This, after West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes got away with a clear handball in the box.

Against City, Bernardo Silva was seen to be wrestling Merlin Rohl to the ground during an Everton set-piece.

But it was checked and cleared by VAR and after the game, Moyes’ feelings were crystal clear, as he bitterly said he’d look to change the way his own defenders defend.

He said in his post-match press conference: “If that doesn’t get given as a penalty then it’s an absolutely free-for-all from now on.

Another penalty decision not going in Everton’s favour? 🫣

Bernardo Silva wasn't even looking at the ball 🤷‍♂️

“I might have to start coaching my defenders how to defend differently, completely. It looks like now you’re able to grapple and wrestle to the ground if you want.

“Absolutely amazing. Look, this is on the back of a terrible decision at West Ham where we don’t get a penalty there either. Hey, that’s not the reason why we don’t get the result tonight.

“But I think it’s just another pointer just to say that I find it really hard that that wasn’t given.

“I think most football fans will find that really difficult that that penalty wasn’t given. People who watch football.”

Moyes was then asked if he’s had a response from the officials about the incident. Angry Moyes said: “Yeah… I won’t bother (sharing what they said).”

Who is to blame for this? 🙄

This is becoming a real issue for Everton and costing them valuable points! 😭

It was quite astonishing that Silva’s wrestling was not punished by VAR.

There was absolutely no playing of the ball whatsoever and he brought his man to the ground, denying him any potential chance to make an impact.

Quite simply, this decision was completely bottled by VAR
