Everton and Manchester City played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

David Moyes’ side thought they had their biggest scalp yet at Hill Dickinson, only for Pep Guardiola’s side to score right at the death.

City took the lead in the first-half through Jeremy Doku, who found the top corner.

How do you even begin to explain that? 😫

Everton have conceded late on AGAIN… 😡

That gave Everton an uphill task in the second-half, but Thierno Barry, on as a substitute, got Everton back on level terms, capitalising on a dreadful back pass by Marc Guehi.

Jake O’Brien then put Everton ahead, rising high to meet a James Garner corner.

Barry grabbed his second after great work by Merlin Rohl, but that was immediately cancelled out by Erling Haaland to set up a tense finish.

Frustratingly, Everton could not hold on, with Doku scoring right at the death to potentially end the Toffees’ European hopes.

Jordan Pickford – 6

Could do nothing about Doku’s strike that found the top corner, but dealt with set-pieces fairly well.

Jake O’Brien – 6

He really struggled against Doku, who was often too nippy for the big man to get near. But he put Everton in front with a superb header in the second-half and showed great urgency to start the move for the third.

James Tarkowski – 6

Some good blocks and headers out from the captain, who generally marshalled Erling Haaland quite well. Booked.

Michael Keane – 6

Solid. His tackle on Doku was strong and slightly risky but he was rightly only yellow-carded.

Vitalii Mykolenko – 6

Tough night at times for Mykolenko who didn’t look comfortable against Antoine Semenyo and Rayan Cherki on his side. He did make a superb tackle on Omar Marmoush late on.

Tim Iroegbunam – 7

Iroegbunam did especially well out of possession and made several tackles and interceptions. Has put in a good case to keep his place.

James Garner – 7

He worked so hard, but might have done better to block Jeremy Doku’s shot which broke the deadlock. But he was everywhere all night, and his superb corner was met by O’Brien to make it 2-1.

Merlin Rohl – 8

In for his first Premier League start since January and did brilliantly. Deployed from the right side, he worked really hard and also provided attacking threat. He left Marc Guehi trailing in his wake with a great burst in the first-half before crossing for Beto which nearly resulted in a goal.

Set up Everton’s third with another amazing burst down the right side. Replaced towards the end by Nathan Patterson.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – 6

Quieter than most of his teammates, but worked extremely hard as usual. Replaced towards the end by Charly Alcaraz.

Iliman Ndiaye – 6

He was quiet in the first-half but was much more influential in the second. Spurned a couple of brilliant chances, but was a real threat and worked hard to force turnovers.

Who is to blame for this? 🙄

This is becoming a real issue for Everton and costing them valuable points! 😭

Beto – 5

Back starting after missing out last weekend, Beto looked rusty and lacked urgency. Squandered a really good chance in the first-half after great work by Rohl when he might have passed to Ndiaye. Picked up a silly booking on what was a frustrating night for the striker. Replaced by Thierno Barry.

Substitutes

Thierno Barry – 8

Grabbed the equaliser for Everton just minutes after his introduction, taking advantage of a terrible back pass from Marc Guehi. Looked offside initially but he never got to the ball before Guehi then played it. He then scored his second after brilliant work by Rohl. Much better from the Frenchman.
