David Moyes is set to take Everton on a mid-season training camp as the Glaswegian aims to oversee a strong end to the season.
The Toffees are currently without a win in seven games at the Hill Dickinson Stadium – but a run of six wins in 13 away from home still has Everton in contention to qualify for the UEFA Conference League.
It was an Everton insider on X (previously known as Twitter) who revealed the news, and if David Moyes can make the trip as impactful as Mikel Arteta did at Arsenal in the 2023/24 season, the Toffees could be in for a special end to the campaign.
What would your message to David Moyes be after the loss to United? 😡
He cannot find the answer at the Hill Dickinson…
2023/24 Arsenal run suggests training camp could work wonders for Everton
Back in the 2023/24 campaign as Arsenal were slipping out of the title race, Arteta – who made 209 appearances for Everton – opted to take the Gunners to Dubai for a change of scenery.
It had a transformative impact on the season, as Arsenal embarked on a run of seven consecutive wins after returning to England – scoring 31 goals and conceding just three as the likes of Crystal Palace, West Ham, Burnley and Sheffield United were thumped.
| Date | Opponent | Venue | Result |
| Jan 20 | Crystal Palace | Home | W 5–0 |
| Jan 30 | Nottingham Forest | Away | W 2–1 |
| Feb 4 | Liverpool | Home | W 3–1 |
| Feb 11 | West Ham | Away | W 6–0 |
| Feb 17 | Burnley | Away | W 5–0 |
| Feb 24 | Newcastle United | Home | W 4–1 |
| Mar 4 | Sheffield United | Away | W 6–0 |
| Mar 9 | Brentford | Home | W 2–1 |
Some Everton fans online have already expressed anger at the fact Moyes is arranging this trip, feeling the 62-year-old is rewarding his players despite a worrying run of results at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
However, if Everton return from the warm-weather training camp even half as successful as Arsenal were in the 2023/24 season, it would have been worth going.
David Moyes needs to orchestrate trip differently to last season, however
Everton went on a warm-weather training camp in the United Arab Emirates last season after a 1-1 draw at Brentford towards the end of February, but unlike Arsenal, it actually led to a poor run of results.
| Date | Opponent | Venue | Result |
| Mar 8 | Wolves | Away | D 1–1 |
| Mar 15 | West Ham | Home | D 1–1 |
| Apr 2 | Liverpool | Away | L 0–1 |
| Apr 5 | Arsenal | Home | D 1–1 |
| Apr 12 | Nottm Forest | Away | W 1–0 |
| Apr 19 | Man City | Home | L 0–2 |
| Apr 26 | Chelsea | Away | L 0–1 |
| May 3 | Ipswich Town | Home | D 2–2 |
| May 10 | Fulham | Away | W 3–1 |
| May 18 | Southampton | Home | W 2–0 |
| May 25 | Newcastle | Away | W 1–0 |
As you can see, the Toffees only won one of eight games after returning from a training camp last term, before ending the season strongly with three victories in a row.
Would you make any changes to this team or is that the best XI possible? 🧐
If Everton come back from this year’s training camp and deliver a similarly miserable run of form, supporters may start to voice their frustration inside the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
