Everton players are enjoying a small break from the action with no game to prepare for this weekend.

David Moyes’ side were able to pick up a point in their visit to Brentford on Wednesday evening thanks to a late Jake O’Brien equaliser.

Following the game, Everton jetted off to the United Arab Emirates for a warm-weather training camp ahead of their game coming up next weekend.

The trip to the Middle East will provide Everton with an opportunity to take stock of their recent form under the 61-year-old manager.

It has been a whirlwind past month and a half since the change of managers, which has also seen a number of injury blows.

Moyes has seen Nathan Patterson return to training recently, and he will be hoping to see some other players use the training camp as an opportunity to prove their worth.

Martin Sherif could impress David Moyes in Everton training camp

Everton remain without Dominic Calvert-Lewin through injury as well as Armando Broja and Youssef Chermiti.

Moyes has been handed a real headache when it comes to injuries affecting his attack.

One player who could use the UAE training camp as a real opportunity to show his worth to the 61-year-old manager is striker Martin Sherif.

Defender William Tamen has expressed his wish to catch Moyes’ eye from the Everton academy; Sherif has already done that.

However, the striker is yet to earn any actual minutes on the pitch under Moyes despite making his matchday squad numerous times now.

Sherif was included in the squad for the draw away to Brentford on Wednesday but was unable to make it off the bench as the Toffees sought an equaliser.

Leighton Baines has told Sherif to improve his hold-up play which is something he will be looking to demonstrate over in the Middle East.

“Leighton spoke to me about my hold-up play and he used Dominic Calvert-Lewin as a good example,” said Sherif.

Considering the options are so thin up front, Sherif has to be viewed as an option to potentially come off the bench in the future.

Beto dropped his standards against Brentford in Everton draw

Since replacing Calvert-Lewin in recent weeks, Beto has really impressed Everton fans with some eye catching form in front of goal.

However, Wednesday night was not one to remember for the Portuguese striker.

Beto missed three one-on-one opportunities which would have provided Everton with all three points on the night had he converted.

Everton fans were left frustrated by Beto’s Brentford display, but he has enough credit in the bank from recent displays for his position not to be under threat.

Despite searching for a late equaliser, Sherif did not get a chance off the bench from Moyes.

Although it would likely take an injury to the 26-year-old for Sherif to get the nod, the youngster should be using this training camp as an opportunity to push for an appearance off the bench.
