Everton are preparing themselves for a huge summer in the transfer window.

David Moyes will be keen to add to his squad over the coming months as the Toffees look to really kick on following a promising start under the Scot.

The Friedkins are ready to back Moyes in the market as the summer will provide a real opportunity to financially compete.

However, there will also be a real pressure for Everton to keep ahold of their best players.

Everton are receiving interest in Jarrad Branthwaite ahead of the summer following his England debacle last month.

And Moyes has now commented on Branthwaite’s contract situation after being quizzed on the 22-year-old’s future.

What David Moyes said about Jarrad Branthwaite’s Everton contract

It has been suggested that Branthwaite is keen to play European football soon, which may put pressure on his future at Everton.

However, it is the Toffees who hold the cards when it comes to his future.

Speaking to the media on Friday from Finch Farm, Moyes was keen to affirm this by highlighting Everton’s strong hand on the defender’s contract.

“You have to remember Jarrad Branthwaite’s got a three-year contract left. He’s got two years and a year extension option. So, if anything, Everton hold all the cards regarding that player,” said Moyes.

“I wouldn’t think Jarrad will be one of the ones [leaving].”

Sources have told Everton News that the Friedkins have not changed Branthwaite’s price tag and it would take a huge figure to see him depart.

The Blues are in charge when it comes to the defender’s future and they are clearly very keen to make that known ahead of the summer.

Everton are keen to hand Branthwaite a new contract and make him one of the club’s top earners.

Branthwaite would have to seriously push for Everton exit

It has to be remembered that Branthwaite has not actually shown any indication of wanting to push for a move.

Branthwaite looked happy in Everton training recently despite all of the rumours doing the rounds.

The Toffees could bring in significant money for the defender this summer if they were to decide they’d offload him.

However, it would be interesting to see what clubs would be willing to offer, with Manchester United valuing Branthwaite at £50m.

If that is to be the case, Branthwaite would have no chance of departing this summer as Everton would laugh off that type of bid.
