Everton boss David Moyes will no doubt have been watching England’s World Cup last-16 clash against Mexico last night.
Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford starred for England and went level with Peter Shilton for most World Cup appearances (17).
Pickford earned rave reviews from the national media as he made several key saves to help the Three Lions reach the quarter-finals.
Mahrez has just left Al-Ahli… should Everton sign him on a free? 👀
Moyes would’ve certainly enjoyed that, and he also would’ve learnt a very key lesson from the game which he must address for the Toffees next season.

England vs Mexico showed David Moyes he must start a natural right-back next season
England have struggled at right-back this World Cup with Reece James struggling to maintain fitness levels.
Against Mexico, Bayer Leverkusen star Jarrel Quansah, who is a centre-back by trade, started in James’ place.
Quansah had a torrid evening and was shown a straight red card after making a rash challenge on Jesus Gallardo early in the second-half.
He was very fortunate that it didn’t result in England crashing out, and it shows Moyes exactly what to avoid next season.
Now Hackney is confirmed, who should Everton be bringing in next? 💰
Time to take our foot off the brake pedal in the market…
For far too long, Everton have been riding their luck by playing Jake O’Brien out of position at right-back and, in truth, there have been moments where he’s looked totally out of his depth.
Moyes and his recruitment chiefs should use the Quansah incident as added motivation to go out and sign a natural right-back to replace O’Brien.
It’s understood that the Toffees are looking at Raoul Bellanova, who is valued at around £21m by Serie A side Atalanta.
Ben White is also being targeted by Moyes, but the club should steer well clear of that deal as the trend of centre-backs playing at right-back has well and truly ended.
Football moves in cycles, and now agile full-backs are back in trend as the wingers become more and more skilful.
Everton also need another attacking outlet down the right flank, as too much reliance was placed on Iliman Ndiaye to deliver last term, which he didn’t do enough.
