Everton have a rich history of producing talented players from their academy.
Wayne Rooney, Leon Osman and Ross Barkley instantly spring to mind and now there’s real hope for Harrison Armstrong.
Asmir Begovic has labelled Armstrong as a ‘special’ player and expects him to become a key fixture for David Moyes’ side.
The 18-year-old midfielder is currently on loan at Derby County, where he has flourished since joining in January.
Derby fans have been blown away by Armstrong and they’re desperate to see him return to the club in the summer.
He starred for the Rams in their 3-1 win against West Bromwich Albion on Easter Monday and now their local media have made an exciting prediction about the Everton loanee.

Derby County’s local media tip Everton’s Harrison Armstrong for a ‘big future’
Armstrong played a key part in Derby’s shock 3-1 victory against play-off hopefuls West Bromwich Albion.
The England youth international played the full 90 and earned much of the plaudits for his display in midfield.
Derby’s local media highlighted his exceptional ability at both ends of the pitch and tipped him for a ‘big future’.
Derby Telegraph wrote: “The on-loan Everton teenager had a fine game in the heart of midfield and drove forward at times and also showed defensive awareness. Got a big future.”
Armstrong’s impressive stats vs West Brom
Armstrong excels at driving the ball forward and attacking the penalty area, but at Derby, he’s shown another side to his game.
The 2007-born has rolled up his sleeves in the Rams’ relegation battle and has produced a number of gritty, defensive performances.
As evinced by his underlying data (per Sofascore) against West Brom, the Finch Farm academy graduate excelled at winning possession back.
Armstrong’s heatmap covered virtually every blade of grass, further amplifying his terrific engine.
- 90 minutes played
- 38 touches
- 22 accurate passes
- 3 interceptions
- 2 clearances
It’s becoming pretty obvious that the teenager will be fast-tracked to Everton’s first team next season, especially with Orel Mangala and potentially even Idrissa Gana Gueye leaving.
