Everton will be hoping that, under their new leadership, a brighter future awaits them.
After all, having endured so many years of torment, at last things do seem to be looking up for them.
Set to be free from Farhad Moshiri’s torrid tenure as Everton owner, walking into their brand-new stadium under Dan Friedkin‘s control, the foundation is there for long-term success.
The only hope is that the American can make the necessary changes to the club to ensure that such progression is amplified.
Surely, to promote that, keeping ahold of the club’s best players will be paramount to such a goal.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin drops a big hint on his Everton future
So, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin refusing to sign a new Everton contract, this poses an instant problem for the Friedkin Group.
After all, they are walking into a stand-off, with the 27-year-old still unwilling to commit his future.

With a contract that expires in the summer, this poses a huge threat, as the Toffees will not want to lose such an integral character for free. It’s thought that, with the £100k-a-week striker so close to making history too, he might think the same.
Well, as he told the Liverpool ECHO, that might be in his thinking. Dominic Calvert-Lewin admitted: ‘For me, I’m joint-third top scorer in the Premier League for Everton so I need 13 more goals at this moment in time to surpass Romelu.
‘As you can see, I know a lot about that. That’s been something on my agenda from the start of the season – being Everton’s all-time highest scorer in the Premier League. For me, that would be a very, very proud achievement’
Emulating Romelu Lukaku’s Everton career is an impressive feat
Although he is not nearly as proficient and exceptional as Romelu Lukaku was at Everton, the fact that Calvert-Lewin is so close to his Premier League goalscoring record is admirable.
After all, the Belgian was the Toffees’ chief marksman for many years, and developed remarkably well at Goodison Park into one of the division’s best forwards.
In fact, during his final year with the club, he hit 25 league goals as Everton finished seventh.
In fact, across the four full seasons he played at Goodison Park, he always hit double figures for goals, with his tally of 68 achieved in just 141 appearances.

Meanwhile, Calvert-Lewin’s 56 have come in 222 appearances, outlining the gulf between the two forwards.
All it would take is one solid season of form for the Englishman to overtake both him and Duncan Ferguson, and the hope is that he can achieve this whilst signing a new deal.
