Whilst Everton’s deadline day is set to be dominated by who might come into Goodison Park, it’s also worth noting that there are plenty of players who could also exit the club as well.

After all, it’s already been well-documented that Neal Maupay will leave Everton, at long last, with the hope that this might kickstart the falling of dominoes that sees other dead wood shipped out.

Mason Holgate is another name many fans want rid of, whilst opinions remain hugely split on Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Regardless of whether he is wanted or not, an update on his future has now emerged.

Update emerges on Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s Everton future

Delivered courtesy of Sky Sports, they seek to suggest that the £100k-a-week marksman, despite links surrounding his exit seeming tenuous at best all summer, could now move on deadline day.

This comes after Calvert-Lewin rejected a new Everton contract earlier in the summer, despite his current deal expiring next summer.

Whether it be a lack of set ownership or an ebbing belief in Sean Dyche, the 27-year-old is alienating his fanbase, and even if he stays, he has already lost so many followers with his actions.

But, this report seems to suggest that he won’t, as it claims: ‘Even if Chelsea do miss out on Victor Osimhen – and this saga has been dragging out for several days – then they will surely still try to sign a striker today.

‘Ivan Toney, Jhon Duran and Dominic Calvert Lewin are among their other targets.’

Beto could fill Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s boots at Everton

If Everton are to sacrifice Calvert-Lewin today rather than lose him on a free next summer, then so be it.

The Toffees might have to suffer through a troublesome six-month stretch with just two senior strikers, but with Beto almost always available, fans should fear not in favour of snagging a PSR boost.

Especially after the Portuguese marksman’s showing on Tuesday night, where he exhibited all the reasons why he should be starting regardless of whether his attacking rival stays or not.

His hold-up play was phenomenal, as he pinned hulking centre-backs with ease and manoeuvred the ball with a finesse that Calvert-Lewin has seldom exhibited.

Sprawling passes out wide and engineering neat touches into midfield, Beto may come across as clunky and unorthodox at times, but he is a perfectly awkward striker who causes so many issues for his opponents. He capped off his mid-week performance with a goal too.

Tall, fast, strong and relentless in his pressing, the 26-year-old would certainly do a fine job as Everton’s starting striker for the Premier League season. He can do no worse than Calvert-Lewin’s tally of seven league strikes last season.
