David Moyes will hope to have a fairly long-term stay in his second Everton stint, but Duncan Ferguson will be there to pounce when he leaves.

Moyes will be getting stuck into a summer of rebuild for Everton, as the club are in desperate need for reinforcements.

The Scotsman has all the right materials to push on under the ownership of The Friedkin Group and Vitaliy Mykolenko staying at Everton is a big boost.

As much as Ferguson appreciates Moyes, the Everton legend has spoke on getting back in the hotseat.

Ferguson’s dream is to manage Everton again, and now he’s detailed the one reason why he would make for a strong appointment.

Duncan Ferguson gives reason why he should manage Everton

He loves the supporters, and the supporters love him, that’s one reason why Ferguson should take on the challenge of Everton again.

But there will be doubt with the Scotsman, as despite his brilliance as a player at Goodison Park, his managerial record isn’t exactly glowing.

Ferguson’s managerial record (PPG = Points per game)
Everton (caretaker manager)Games: 4 (PPG = 1.25)
Forest GreenGames: 18 (PPG = 0.33)
Inverness CTGames: 52 (PPG = 1.27)

Although he knows the inside and outside of the club, it might seem he has to build up his portfolio after an underwhelming start as a manager.

Saying this though, he had bright sparks in his caretaker role, as he steadied a sinking ship under Marco Silva.

Now, Ferguson wants to try again, and made that evidently clear with one key reason in an interview with The Mirror.

“I want to be on that touchline for Everton. I want to manage Everton. That is my dream…,” Ferguson said.

“I know it is a long way off at the moment, but football can move very quickly and, don’t forget, I have managed in the Premier League.”

Moyes should appoint Ferguson on coaching staff

It’s clear how much the former Toffees striker loves the club and would be willing to do anything for it.

He’s still an enjoyer of watching games and looks forward to a bright future, as fans wanted Ferguson as a striker coach.

But he could still have a chance to be there permanently even if it isn’t as a manager.

His coaching expertise are impressive and Everton fans want Ferguson as a striker coach, which could be on Moyes’ mind.

This could be the step he needs to get closer to the managerial role in a decision which could help Everton’s goal-scoring problems.
