Duncan Ferguson has worked under several Everton managers.

Since hanging up the boots, Duncan Ferguson has carved out a career in coaching and worked at Everton for 11 years.

The Scotsman worked with the likes of Ronald Koeman, Marco Silva and of course, Carlo Ancelotti, with whom he formed a great relationship.

Ferguson is open to reuniting with Ancelotti with the Brazil national team. He desperately wants to get back into the game, and as such, he’s been appearing in the media a lot recently, promoting his new book.

That said, Ferguson has been speaking about a number of former Everton managers and named the one whose unbelievable tactically – it’s not Ancelotti.

Duncan Ferguson says Frank Lampard is unbelievable tactically

Ferguson spoke a lot about Frank Lampard in his audiobook, waxing lyrical about just how good a manager he is.

He felt Lampard should’ve got the England job over Thomas Tuchel, as he explains what a brilliant tactician he is.

“He will be a very good manager one day,” the former Everton assistant said.

“He’s certainly one of the best managers I’ve worked with in terms of communication, tactics, presentations and presenting himself.

“He’s fantastic and it’ll work out for him one day.

“Frank’s already done good work as a manager, he got Derby County into the Championship play-offs, got Chelsea to 4th in the Premier League and the FA Cup final.

“He came to Everton at the start of 2022 and he kept us up.

“But 24 losses in 44 games was always going to kill him.”

Lampard proving to be a good manager with Coventry City

After leaving Everton, Lampard returned to Chelsea as an interim manager and now manages Championship side Coventry City, where he is flourishing.

Lampard had a secret meeting with Pep Guardiola before taking the Coventry job and it seems to have reinvigorated his vision and tactics.

The Sky Blues have gone from a relegation-threatened position to promotion candidates, with promotion to the Premier League a real possibility.

Coventry face Sunderland in the play-off semi-finals this week, and many believe they have what it takes to go all the way.

So clearly, Ferguson was right, Lampard is showing signs he can be a top manager one day.
