Everton were held to a 1-1 draw against West Ham United at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Everton made a bright start to the game and went 1-0 up through Michael Keane, but West Ham United fought back and got back on level terms just after the hour mark.
Jarrod Bowen was the goalscorer, and that certainly lifted the away side heading into the final stages of the game.
David Moyes’ side struggled to create from that point onwards and ultimately, the two sides cancelled each other out.
Duncan Ferguson, speaking on Sky Sports post-match, pinpointed exactly what the Toffees were missing to get the win.

Duncan Ferguson says Everton don’t have a proper goalscorer
Asked what Everton were missing against the Hammers, Duncan Ferguson simply said a striker and then went on to criticise Beto.
“Beto for me was very poor,” the former Everton boss admitted.
“I don’t remember Everton having many chances. Everton were poor up front. You could smell it in the second half, Everton made a few defensive mistakes…”
Ferguson added: “Everton struggled to create chances tonight. Grealish, Ndiaye, Beto – you need a better platform.
“Beto is good at running in behind, but you need a platform to get up the pitch. With his feet, technically, he’s not there.”
Beto has struggled to make an impact this season, scoring just one in six league games, and Thierno Barry is yet to get off the mark.
Although Barry has had limited game time off the bench and is clearly struggling to find his rhythm without starting.
Beto’s poor stats vs West Ham
Beto’s Sofascore statistics make for really difficult reading, as he had just 17 touches of the ball, completed three passes and missed one big chance.
It was a game to forget for the towering frontman, who will surely be dropped for the game against Crystal Palace this weekend.
- 69 minutes
- 17 touches
- 1 shot
- 1 big chance missed
- 3/5 passes
- 8 possession lost
- 3/12 duels won
Beto also lost nine of his 12 duels and gave the ball away eight times, so Moyes simply has to start Barry on Sunday.
