Everton have seen plenty of managers come and go over the years with the club finally heading towards a brighter future.
The Friedkin Group are keen to stabilise Everton after years of uncertainties under Farhad Moshiri.
Early signs have been extremely positive with Everton showing big improvements under the Friedkins and David Moyes.
Changing managers has certainly proven a big play from the new owners, which has certainly paid off on Merseyside.
However, there are some managerial departures which have caused some frustration over recent years.
And there is one, in particular, which Everton legend Duncan Ferguson has previously criticised during Moshiri’s tenure at Goodison Park.

Duncan Ferguson slams Everton’s sacking of Sam Allardyce
Everton fans were frustrated with Sean Dyche towards the back end of his time with the club back as the Toffees struggled massively.
And it has been a decision which has transformed the club from relegation battlers to a side all but safe from the drop.
However, Ferguson has admitted he thinks Moshiri was wrong to sack Sam Allardyce back in 2018 after around half a year on Merseyside.
“Sam did a great job really to get the club in a good position. He was really unfortunate to lose his job and he shouldn’t have lost his job,” said Big Dunc back in 2022.
“I’ve been a big backer of Sam for some time, and we’ve always got on well.”
“What I loved about Sam was that he was straight. He’s a straight fella, a straight talker and tactically very good. He knew his game plan and communicated that with the players and we went and executed it.
“He knew exactly what he wanted. He communicated that with the players, the players liked him as well, they loved him.”
Allardyce actually had a good relationship with Moshiri and has since questioned the intentions of the new Everton owners.
But it seems as if some around the club were keen to see the former England manager’s time in the dugout go on for a little longer than the 167 days he did.
Sam Allardyce’s record as Everton manager
The 70-year-old was not on Merseyside for very long after only managing 26 games for the Blues during his time at the club.
Allardyce was able to lead Everton to an eighth-place finish in the Premier League, but that did not stop Moshiri from parting ways with the veteran.
Marco Silva was the man to replace Allardyce; he lasted slightly longer, but he his points per game return was not quite as high as Allardyce’s.
| Everton record | Sam Allardyce | Marco Silva |
|---|---|---|
| Games | 26 | 60 |
| Days in post | 167 | 553 |
| Points per game | 1.42 | 1.38 |
Allardyce has tipped Everton to avoid relegation for months now and he will be delighted to see the work done under Moyes.
But it is apparent there is a feeling that he deserved the summer of 2018 to build on what he had started at Goodison.
