Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite was in action for England’s U21s on Friday night.
The 23-year-old did have to settle for a spot on the bench after Branthwaite joined up late with the England squad on Wednesday.
It has been a disappointing week for the defender who will have been hoping for a senior call-up.
New England boss Thomas Tuchel did not select Branthwaite in favour of Dan Burn and Jarell Quansah for their two World Cup Qualifiers.
It has been a positive season for Branthwaite who has impressed under both Sean Dyche and David Moyes.
However, that was not seen as enough by the German coach, who assessed his other options for this international break.

England fans send Jarrad Branthwaite message to Thomas Tuchel
On Friday night, Everton fans hailed Armando Broja for tormenting Burn in the England defence after coming off the bench.
The Everton striker provided the Newcastle United man with some serious questions to answer.
And as the man of the moment struggled to handle the Albania international, England fans took to social media to share their Branthwaite message to Tuchel.

| @pltoffee71 | How did Branthwaite not get picked ahead of Burn? |
| @adamnuts | I love the fairytale and he seems a top lad. However if I’m a player like Jarrad Branthwaite I’m scratching my head. Got exposed on a couple of occasions one v one might be a short lived experiment |
| @lea_efc | Tonight should have been the night Jarrad Branthwaite announced himself on the world stage instead we get Dan Burn & Ezri Konsa. Tuchel should be looking to build his team for the next 10 years around Branthwaite not Burn or Konsa. I’ve seen enough. Sack Tuchel immediately. |
| @simon_clemson | Konsa and Branthwaite I could understand but this Konsa slander is madness. |
| @josephmcclarnon | Just can’t comprehend Dan Burn over Branthwaite at LCB in a side that will have a lot of the ball. |
| @djacko94 | Branthwaite a better backup than Burn imo. |
Moyes has told Branthwaite to get on with it following his England snub with the 23-year-old joining up with Lee Carsley’s side.
But there is no doubt the Everton defender will be disappointed not to be included by Tuchel.

Dan Burn faced some real issues in England debut
The fairytale week was complete for Newcastle’s giant defender as he was handed his England debut on Friday night.
However, it was not a straightforward evening for the Blyth-born defender, with Broja causing him issues late in the game.
- 90 minutes played
- 7 clearances
- 2 tackles
- 2X dribbled past
- 2/5 ground duels won
- 1 foul conceded
- 153 touches
Branthwaite has been praised by Rio Ferdinand this season, with the 23-year-old looking like one of the Premier League’s top centre-backs.
Although it has been some week for Burn, it is apparent there were a number of fans left questioning his place in the starting XI after the victory over Albania.
There is not a great deal more Branthwaite will feel he could have done in an Everton shirt this season, with the defender now left eyeing the next call-up in June.
