England begin their warm up for the World Cup on Saturday evening with a friendly game in Florida against New Zealand.

It will be an opportunity for Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford to potentially play again for the first time since the defeat to Tottenham Hotspur just weeks ago.

However, Everton fans and staff will surely have everything crossed the 32-year-old comes through it unscathed after images have emerged of the pitch the Three Lions will be playing on.

Everton must be concerned over Jordan Pickford’s fitness ahead of England friendly

Wayne Rooney has hailed Pickford’s role for England, and even suggested he could win the Three Lions the World Cup.

Pickford has established himself as England’s number one over the years, but fans will surely not want him to be playing on Saturday evening.

Craig Hope of the Daily Mail shared images of the freshly-laid turf in Tampa ahead of England’s game against New Zealand, and it’s nothing short of a disgrace.

The sheets of turf do not appear to have settled, with concerns being raised over the safety risks involved for the players.

“I saw a photo from a journalist which made me a little bit worried and concerned, but let’s decide when we are there,” Tuchel admitted.

“If there are any issues, we can always react to it. The plan is to play 45 minutes with two complete teams, to expose everyone to the same amount of minutes.”

Of course, the goalkeepers will be the last players expected to suffer an injury issue, but the risk remains clear after the images of the pitch surfaced.

Pickford is dreaming of lifting the World Cup, but Tuchel is going to be responsible for making sure he makes it there injury-free.

Along with Pickford, Tuchel also had Dean Henderson and James Trafford to select, with Jason Steele also called up for the friendlies before the tournament starts.
