Everton are set to battle a host of Premier League rivals to secure the signature of Sunderland maestro Jack Clarke.

Goodison Park awaits its fate from the Premier League on Monday with a second FFP punishment believed to be possible.

Everton therefore – as expected – are being cautious in the transfer market with loan moves primarily being named as the most likely deals to be done.

However, that hasn’t prevented some really exciting deals from being tipped as Everton clearly has one eye on a world of post-financial trouble where they can sign players.

Now, one of those players has once more been linked with a move to Merseyside – although it could have to wait until the summer.

Everton eyeing up Jack Clarke move

According to a report by the Northern Echo, Everton are one of six Premier League clubs who are currently interested in signing Jack Clarke from Sunderland.

The ‘dazzling‘ Championship winger has been immense for the Black Cats this campaign scoring 12 goals already. Thanks to this form he’s attracting substantial interest with Everton joined by David Moyes’ West Ham United as well as Crystal Palace, Burnley, Wolves and finally Bournemouth.

The 23-year-old seems destined to make the jump to Premier League football in 2024 as he’s shown himself to be a level above his counterparts. Although Sunderland also faces interest from Championship promotion hopefuls Leicester City and Southampton.

Clarke is believed to have a £20m price tag set which would be a slight hurdle for the Toffees given current financial woes and the threat of further FFP punishment. But the same of a player along the lines of Amadou Onana or Jarrad Branthwaite would potentially be massive in funding this deal.

Everton could be an ideal move for Jack Clarke

Clarke will want to join a club where he has a real chance of becoming a star and with Everton, that’s what he could do. The chance to join a club who are at a low point right now but could be on the rise again in no time.

The English winger could be the first major piece of an impressive new era at Everton which will see Bramley Moore-Dock inhabited at the beginning of the 2025/26 season.

If Clarke does arrive, he’d be perfect for Sean Dyche as a goalscoring winger who also works extremely hard – which is a prerequisite to play under the manager.
