Everton awaiting their fate over a second potential FFP punishment which could come their way this season.

The Premier League are set to reveal whether Everton, along with other Premier League clubs are due to be sanctioned for the past years’ financials over the next week.

Monday the 16th is believed to be judgement day for the club with real concern that they could face further punishment from the Premier League authorities.

The concerns are real from some however there is a slight confidence that the club will avoid any punishment with financial expert Kieran Maguire claiming the sale of Anthony Gordon was huge in mending some of the damage done.

While on the other hand, there is a fear over a new punishment for Everton being ‘very very close‘ according to the BBC.

What Everton are thinking about FFP punishments

Now journalist Paul Brown has dropped his verdict on Everton’s situation while speaking with GiveMeSport exclusively.

He explained: “I think to make the same mistake again would be quite an incredible piece of mismanagement. So you certainly hope that they’re okay.”

He then began to delve into what he’s heard regarding the situation at Everton right now.

“What I’m hearing is that they think they are just under and that they will be compliant. But that obviously depends on the Premier League agreeing with their point of view, so we’ll have to wait and see.

The fact the decision sounds like it could be so subjective is a worry for Everton as having been found guilty already this season – a decision fans are still appalled with – it could easily happen again.

There is positive news though for Everton with takeover updates emerging over the past day.

A new consortium emerges to buy Everton

The takeover by the 777 Partners has ground to a halt and seems to be taking forever to come through. Now, however, it’s been reported that if 777 doesn’t complete a takeover, there is another consortium that will be keen to enter the race.

However, it might not come to that with the league set to decide in January whether they’ll allow the takeover or not.

A takeover would be huge for Everton financially and if they can avoid punishment here it could be the beginning of Everton not having concerns.
