The January transfer window is rapidly approaching and Everton are expected to be in the market for a striker.
Thierno Barry and Beto have scored just two Premier League goals between them this season, so clearly David Moyes’ side need more firepower up top.
Everton have scouted Troy Parrott and actually watched the AZ Alkmaar centre-forward in action for the Republic of Ireland last month.
How much could Everton realistically get for Beto in January? 😬
Or should he even be starting ahead of Thierno Barry?
Richarlison has also been linked with a return to the Toffees, and it’s understood that he’d be open to a move back to Merseyside.
Now, a fresh rumour has emerged in recent days and this time it’s regarding a striker who plies his trade in Italy.
He’s actually very similar to Romelu Lukaku, according to the data.

Everton target Artem Dovbyk plays just like Romelu Lukaku
It has been reported that Everton are showing an interest in Artem Dovbyk, who plays up front for AS Roma.
Dovbyk has a great relationship with the Friedkin Group and admitted he was wooed by their pitch when he initially signed for Roma.
How many goals could Artem Dovbyk score in the Premier League? 💪
He has struggled in the 2025/26 season, though…
So, it seems like a very doable deal on both fronts this winter, and according to FBref statistics, the Ukraine international is actually a very similar number nine to Romelu Lukaku.
Given what Lukaku was able to achieve at Everton, if Dovbyk is even half the player, that’d be a superb addition in January.
| # | Player | Team |
| 1 | Romelu Lukaku | Napoli |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | Ollie Watkins | Aston Villa |
| 3 | Rasmus Hojlund | Napoli |
| 4 | Anastasios Douvikas | Como |
| 5 | Evanilson | Bournemouth |
Artem Dovbyk’s goalscoring record
Dovbyk’s best season in his career came in 2023/24, when he was in the Spanish La Liga with the high-flying Girona.
The 28-year-old netted 24 league goals whilst laying on eight assists that year and actually won the Golden Boot award.
| Club | Games | Goals | Assists |
|---|---|---|---|
| SC Dnipro-1 | 86 | 54 | 14 |
| Roma | 59 | 19 | 6 |
| Girona | 39 | 24 | 10 |
| Dnipro | 37 | 18 | – |
| SonderjyskE | 23 | 4 | 1 |
| Midtjylland | 22 | 1 | – |
That earned him a big-money move to Roma, although his career in Italy hasn’t been as fruitful, and he’s only netted twice this term.
Perhaps a move to Merseyside could reignite Dovbyk’s career, as his 6ft 2 in frame would certainly lend itself well to the division’s physicality.
The Ukrainian has a similar physique to Lukaku, so there is potential for him to flourish in Moyes’ system, with lots of crosses coming into the box.
