Everton are finally about to do something that will end their PSR troubles once and for all

It was widely believed that, if Everton were to avoid another season riddled with PSR drama, that sales would be needed.

In fact, that is even the path that director of football Kevin Thelwell led most fans down with his claims, convincing them that there were almost certainly set to be some disappointments this summer in order to build a more sustainable future.

For the most part, given Sean Dyche’s staunch and unflappable leadership, Evertonians were content with that, knowing that he had more than enough quality to guide them to safety again regardless of the personnel.

However, having now rebuked all of that fear and replaced it with excitement after three quick-fire signings, this is a fanbase baffled.

Amadou Onana’s move to Aston Villa is imminent

But surely this fairytale has to come to an end eventually.

After all, despite having sold a couple of their stars for solid sums, it was expected that at least one of their more valuable assets would also have to be offloaded.

With Manchester United after Jarrad Branthwaite, it felt like he would almost certainly be the one to go, but his importance to Dyche and his philosophy gave them a stern stance when negotiating.

Forcing the Red Devils elsewhere, it has now become clear that Amadou Onana will leave Everton instead, with Aston Villa his likely destination.

It marks the perfect move for all parties.

The Toffees get a huge sum for a player that Dyche clearly did not fancy, whilst the Belgium international gets his move to a Champions League club.

Everton’s PSR problems are a thing of the past

With this transfer, which is reportedly imminent, surely all of Everton’s PSR woes will be cured.

As a curse that has plagued Farhad Moshiri’s club for many years now, largely caused by his own financial misconduct, last season saw two separate points deductions administered for these exact crimes.

It sent Evertonians into pandemonium, furious with the Premier League for punishing them and the players despite their respective innocence.

However, with this £50m cash injection, there is surely no need to fear anymore.

After all, Everton were, before this summer, one of just two clubs to have posted a net profit in transfer sales across the last three seasons alongside Brighton and Hove Albion.

So, with another huge sum set to be welcomed into Goodison Park, during a summer where they are already nearly breaking even when comparing incomings to outgoings, their PSR troubles should be over once and for all.

Hopefully, Dan Friedkin can then come in and lead them into an era of unprecedented sustainability at last.
