Everton’s priority targets for the summer already seem to have been outlined, with their desperation for a winger standing out above all else.
Their involvement in the Jaden Philogene saga likely slowed them down in their attempts, but it has not taken the Toffees long to move on.
Everton now want Wilfried Gnonto again, and yet despite their efforts to bring in the Italy international, there is another target who still remains constantly in the frame.
Sky Sports provide update on Everton’s top transfer target
Having been described as Everton’s ‘top target’ earlier in the week, fans should therefore be buoyed to learn that the Toffees are now closing in on Jesper Lindstrom.
The Danish attacker has been the subject of Sean Dyche’s affections for some time now it seems, with their interest in him clearly harking back to his Frankfurt days rather than his recent struggles with Napoli.
Well, it seems they are on track to get their man, as Sky Sports in Italy is now reporting that, with contact having been made, both parties are speeding towards a solution.

It reads: ‘Not only Ostigard, among those who could say goodbye (he after only one season) is the Danish Lindstrom, bought for 30 million (£25m) last summer by Eintracht but proved disappointing at the first impact with Italian football after zero goals and only one assist in over thirty appearances.
‘Today – Wednesday, July 17 – there have been contacts with Everton to speed up the sale, but there are also other teams on the player.’
Everton had already sent one bid for Lindstrom, according to other reports in Italy.
Clever Jesper Lindstrom deal is shades of Iliman Ndiaye
Having snagged Iliman Ndiaye for a cut price, capitalising on his depreciating value after just one tough season, it seems they are set to do so again with Lindstrom.
The risks involved with these deals are still present, but the potential upsides are so much higher, and as Marseille and now Napoli have proven, sell-on value can remain even if the player suffers from their new environment.
However, there is every chance that this duo will not struggle, should Dyche quickly get them fit and confident in his leadership.
After all, during his final year at Sheffield United, the Senegal International was imperative in their promotion, scoring 14 and assisting ten as a second striker.
Meanwhile, during that same campaign in the Bundesliga, Lindstrom recorded seven goals and two assists from 22 starts, a fine return for someone so young.

For years, the Toffees have made hefty investments into older players with no future sell-on value, and therefore no scope for any remuneration should they fall flat.
By taking more calculated risks on younger players, they retain an element of leeway which could prove pivotal should these deals not work out.
