Everton’s search for a new right-back continues, but one target’s valuation is surely far above what the club would ideally like to spend.
We are now in mid-July, and the Toffees still haven’t addressed their biggest problem position.
Everton have completed three deals, signing Hayden Hackney and bringing back Tyrique George and Merlin Rohl on permanent deals.
After watching him for England vs Croatia, I’m convinced he’d be the perfect right-back signing this summer! 🔥
But there’s still no right-back, and fans are starting to grow concerned.
But there have been plenty of links, and one player who’s been on the club’s radar is Djed Spence.
And quite simply, we have reached a point now whereby Everton have to be realistic if they are going to swoop.
Everton simply cannot hope to get Djed Spence for less than £25m after World Cup exploits

It was recently suggested by journalist Patrick Boyland that Everton would ideally have liked to spend £20-25 million on a new right-back this summer.
But if Spence is their top target, then it is simply now out of the question that he is attainable for that figure.
Perhaps there would have been a chance to sign him for that much before the World Cup.
But Spence ultimately proved to be one of England’s best players at the tournament, playing on both sides of the pitch and offering the Three Lions a real outlet.
Just focusing on Everton’s right-back search, who should the club bring in this summer and why? 🤔
From Spence, to White, to Norton-Cuffy, there have been links to so many players so far…
He also made good impacts off the bench.
His inclusion ahead of the tournament was questioned by most people. But he proved the doubters wrong.
Now, Spence is going to have plenty of clubs looking to sign him – that’s if Tottenham Hotspur are even still up for selling him.
Because maybe they’ve seen what he did this summer and would ideally now like to keep him.
But it is utterly fanciful to think he’ll be sold for £25 million, the maximum amount Everton are thought to want to spend.
Not only has he just had a great World Cup, but Spence is 25 with good Premier League experience and a fair bit of time remaining on his contract (until 2028).

He actually also joined Spurs for around £20 million and he has obviously kicked on since.
While a move to Everton would make sense for Spence, if the club are delusional enough to think they can get him for only £25 million or less, then the Toffees might as well give up now and focus on other targets.
Because he simply isn’t leaving Spurs for that little.
