Everton boss Sean Dyche ‘in the mix’ to be Premier League manager of the season

Sean Dyche has been an inspiration this season for Everton and now Chris Sutton has suggested he’s a manager of the year contender.

Everton have had a remarkable season despite being hit with a 10-point deduction last month. With much of the praise being thrown upon Sean Dyche.

Jamie Redknapp has been full of praise for Dyche’s work at Goodison Park. Meanwhile, that sentiment was shared as journalist Mike Hughes insisted Dyche was doing what all good managers do.

Dyche joined Everton at their lowest point and within a year has got them playing excellently – with four wins on the bounce perfectly epitomising this. Also without the deduction he’d have Everton sitting in the top half.

Now, thanks to this recent form, Dyche is getting manager-of-the-season calls.

Chris Sutton tips Sean Dyche for manager of the season

Writing in his weekly Premier League predictions on the BBC Sport website, Chris Sutton was full of praise for Dyche including a bold claim.

“This should be an excellent game, and it is very difficult to call.
Sean Dyche has done an incredible job at Everton, and if you were to pick a manager of the season based on what we’ve seen so far, he has to be in the mix after what he has had to put up with.

“This isn’t the Dyche who we saw at Burnley, when he was trying to keep them in the Premier League and was quite direct at times. I actually think his Everton team have a nice balance in the way they get the ball and try to play.”

Dyche’s chances at winning the award are likely to only improve as the season continues and as Everton rises further up the table.

Chris Sutton predicts Everton v Spurs

Continuing his prediction, Sutton explained his views on Everton’s opponent.

“Then you have got Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham, who have been the most watchable team in the top flight.

“Spurs can be reckless at times and will be without Yves Bissouma here after his red card against Forest.

“So, it won’t be straightforward, and I do think Everton will score… but I am going to go with Ange to win it.”

Sutton then finally shared his prediction – a 3-1 win for Spurs. This is a prediction that we don’t necessarily think will come off with The Toffees on a four-game winning run, but Spurs have also regained some form winning their last two games.

An exciting game which really could go either way.
