As a renewed proposal of the Super League has been put forward – Everton boss Sean Dyche has shared his verdict.

The European Super League is back – nearly three years after the initial proposal was shot down by fans and it seems that it’s about to be once again.

The new proposal has been outlined by the BBC. It explains that this renewed proposal will see the league be merit-based which is a huge change from the original.

It’ll be a four-league system including 64 men’s teams and 32 women’s teams. It only broke on Thursday but in an immediate response, practically every side potentially involved has rejected the idea.

Among the clubs rejecting is Manchester United who stated remain fully committed to UEFA competitions. This is huge given United were naming the sides originally involved the first time.

Now, Sean Dyche has had his say on the situation.

Sean Dyche gives verdict on the European Super League

Dyche was speaking during his pre-Tottenham press conference on Thursday afternoon – here he was quizzed on his verdict over the Super League

“Well I think the bigger picture was [that] the last time this came around, it was made clear by the fans, forget about what I think.

“I think fans, certainly many fan groups of clubs that were mentioned were quite clear in their thoughts and obviously that was something they didn’t want, changing the laws which maybe opens up something for the future but I dunno we’ll have to wait and see.”

Dyche seems to share an opinion with us that ultimately – the fans are who make football such a lucrative sport and should therefore be front and centre of any decision of this magnitude in particular.

While this situation doesn’t really affect Everton right now – the way Dyche is going it could soon be a talking point.

How does the Super League affect Everton?

Right now it doesn’t – but that’s not to say it won’t in the future. With Everton’s excellent form lately has seen four consecutive Premier League wins and is raising expectations for the club going forward.

If Dyche is able to continue this form – it’ll see Everton rise up the league rapidly through singing better players. This could eventually see Everton in a European slot and therefore impacted by the Super League.
