Everton have enjoyed a miraculous recovery as a football club over the past three months with Sean Dyche taking most of the plaudits.
When Sean Dyche walked through the doors at Finch Farm last season, he faced the perilous task of helping Everton avoid relegation.
Financially and on the pitch, the club were in ruin, however fast forward to December and the club is flying high.
With a midtable and potentially even top-half finish looking possible this season, strengthening in January could be of the utmost importance.
With a 10-point deduction already inflicted this season, Everton will be cautious with their spending but Kieran Maguire has insisted there is ‘wiggle room’ for the club to spend.
So the question stands, what can Everton achieve with that wiggle room? Journalist Darren Lewis believes quite a bit can be achieved.

Sean Dyche told players will want to join Everton now
Lewis was speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty show on Monday in which he waxed-lyrical about Everton and Dyche’s part in the club’s improvements.
While discussing Everton’s possible January window, Lewis mentioned the fact The Toffees will now have a greater pool of players to choose from as they’re solid in the Premier League.
“I think players will want to join him because I remember in the summer and even in January just gone, players didn’t want to go there because they were so worried that they would go down. There isn’t that concern anymore because of Dyche, because of the winning run, I think they’re going to be a serious proposition for the second half of the season.”
It’s an exciting time to be watching Everton, and a keen eye will be on them in January to see what – if any – moves occur to help strengthen ahead of the second half of the season.
Who can Everton sign in January?
Everton will be sensible in January but that doesn’t mean they can’t spend especially if a sale is made.
One player who has been linked with a move recently is Illiman Ndiaye who Everton missed out on due to financial constraints last summer. Reports now suggest Everton could make a new move to sign the Marseille forward.
Another name who has been linked in the past week is Gent full-back Archie Brown who would be a budget option to provide backup in defence.
Everton have also been linked with a move for Hoffenheim’s Maximilian Beier who’s been compared with Roberto Firmino.
A last name that’s been suggested is Irishman Jake O’Brien who currently plays for Lyon in Ligue 1. He’d be a cheap option in defence and could potentially be a Jarrad Branthwaite replacement should a big money sale occur.
