Everton could try and agree a deal with fierce rivals Liverpool for one of their players this month.

It’s been a long time since a footballer made the switch from Anfield to Goodison Park, but Everton could be about to try and make it happen.

According to journalist Rudy Galetti, The Toffees are one of a number of clubs tracking Fabio Carvalho during the January transfer window.

Fabio Carvalho joined Liverpool in May 2022, after bagging 10 goals and eight assists for Fulham in the Championship.

The midfielder was very highly-rated in the second tier, but he struggled to quite reach expectations following the jump up to the top flight.

Carvalho managed only eleven minutes of league action from October to the end of the season, so it came as no surprise when he joined RB Leipzig on loan in August.

Things didn’t go any better in Germany though, with the 21-year-old managing only three starts in all competitions – failing to pick up a goal or an assist.

Carvalho has now been recalled to Liverpool and The Reds will look to send him back out on loan for the second half of the campaign.

Rudy Galetti has reported that Everton, Wolves and Leicester City are among the clubs who have enquired about the Portugal U21 star, while Jurgen Klopp’s side are yet to make a decision on his next destination.

Will Liverpool be willing to loan Fabio Carvalho to Everton?

Everton could be set to lose Arnaut Danjuma this month, with the Villarreal loanee having been linked with a move to Lyon.

The Toffees have barely played Danjuma since he arrived in the summer, but their squad depth would be wearing thin if he was to end his spell prematurely.

There has already been reports claiming Sean Dyche’s side could be set to snap Jesse Lingard up as an alternative, but Fabio Carvalho could be a much more attractive signing.

The youngster clearly has bags of talent but it just hasn’t worked out for him in the top flight yet. He certainly showed glimmers of hope for Liverpool, though it was always going to be difficult for him to force his way into that team.

He would definitely add a lot of creativity to Everton’s side, though it would be a huge surprise of Liverpool sanctioned the move.

The Reds are likely to have plenty of options of where he can go in January, so to choose their rivals wouldn’t make much sense.
