Everton could sign a ‘fast and dangerous’ player who’s been compared to Marco Reus

Everton are in the market for new players and one target could breathe new life into the forward line.

The Toffees had a disappointing end to 2025/26 and fans are now expecting a big response to that this summer in the transfer market.

Everton need reinforcements in several positions.

If you were Angus Kinnear who would you be going all out for this summer? 💰

At the moment, the key target is Hayden Hackney, but Everton are struggling to come to an agreement with Middlesbrough.

Both full-back positions are also on the agenda, especially right-back.

Everton are also looking at the striker market, and it was recently claimed Lois Openda was offered to the club – and that could be an exciting addition.

Everton target Lois Openda could be a major handful for defenders amid Marco Reus comparison

At the moment, Everton have two somewhat similar strikers in Beto and Thierno Barry.

They are both tall and physical. Although Beto prefers to run in behind and Barry is perhaps slightly better in terms of winning aerial duels.

But Openda would be a much more mobile option for Everton.

He is shorter than the Everton pair, standing at 5ft 10in, allowing him to be more dynamic and athletic. He can also play off the left side as well as though the middle.

And the official Bundesliga website made an interesting comparison a couple of years ago.

They said: “A forward with pace to burn who’s dangerous with the ball wherever he is on the pitch, Openda scampers away from defenders with tricks and touches reminiscent of the Borussia Dortmund legend.

Like Reus, Openda can be an out-and-out forward, but he is so much more than that – to fit in at Lens he needed to be.”

Openda has also been compared to Christopher Nkunku, and on that he himself said: “It is not pressure. Christo is a top player in the world. We have things in common, we are fast and dangerous in front of goal, but we’re not 100% alike, I have my style.

Evertonians would certainly welcome a ‘fast and dangerous’ striker.

Beto and Barry both seems like they would be good back-up striker options, so perhaps Openda could come in and be the main man.

He didn’t have the best season at Juventus and clearly he hasn’t really fit there.

But his previous spell at RB Leipzig suggests he’s a talent, so it would be exciting to see him pitch up at the Hill Dickinson Stadium this summer.
