Everton fans would love to see a new striker arrive at the club this summer – and one rising star in Serie A has attracted attention.

There was criticism of Thierno Barry and Beto last season.

Beto finished the season relatively strong, but lacked consistency throughout the campaign for Everton. But fans continued to appreciate his intensity and work rate.

If you were Angus Kinnear who would you be going all out for this summer? 💰

Barry had a couple of purple patches, but by and large left fans frustrated.

Certainly, his intensity has never been at the same level as Beto.

So a new centre-forward would be welcomed by most Evertonians – and it seems a move could be in the offing for Parma striker Mateo Pellegrino.

It has been reported by SportParma that Everton are one of three clubs eyeing Mateo Pellegrino this summer.

Described as one of the ‘revelations’ of their season, Pellegrino scored 12 goals for the Serie A outfit, and is now attracting a fair bit of attention.

From the Premier League, Everton, Newcastle and Brentford are all keen, while there is interest from clubs in Italy too. Bologna, Como and Fiorentina are mentioned.

Fiorentina could move for Pellegrini if they lose former Everton striker Moise Kean this summer.

The English trio are all claimed to be eyeing ‘young, physically strong profiles with room for growth’.

It is thought that Parma will hold out for about €30 million (just under £26 million) for Pellegrino.

Everton, of course, paid a very similar amount to that for both Barry and Beto, so it could well happen again.

Pellegrino is very much in keeping with the kind of striker target Everton fans have grown used to reading about since David Moyes came back to the club.

He is 6ft 4in tall, which allows him to be aerially dominant, and he is the kind of target man who can bring others around him into play.

Admittedly though, his record of 15 goals in 52 appearances for Parma is slightly underwhelming. He also got 15 in 53 for Club Atletico Platense.
