It’s looking more and more likely that Thierno Barry will sign for Everton this summer.
David Moyes seems to have found his primary target this window, as a £33m deal for Barry is on the cards.
Everton are in desperate need of a striker, and that box appears to be ticked with Barry giving the green light to Everton.
However, despite it looking certain that the Frenchman will be joining, Villarreal’s manager said that Barry joining was unlikely.
Nevertheless, Everton fans have still given their view on the striker’s performance as France U21s crashed out of the U21 EURO 2025 semi-final, in a 3-0 loss to Germany U21s.

Everton fans all agree on Thierno Barry’s strength
Evertonians have been screaming at The Friedkin Group for a striker after a disappointing season in front of goal.
Even though Beto showed he can turn up when the Toffees most need him, the 27-year-old still struggled in the big moments.
This consistency won’t be helpful to Moyes, and there will certainly be an increased need for a new number nine.
With Barry in the limelight, his France side lost out to Germany, as fans have claimed Barry is too raw to join the Premier League, but it seems a different opinion has come to the surface after his display on Wednesday night.
Speaking on X, Everton fans all praised the 22-year-old for a key component of his game during his 45-minute cameo in the game.
@scousehouse06 pointed out his aerial ability, saying: 2He’s fast, strong and good in the air. Yes he’s raw, but the perfect profile of a PL striker. Under Moyes and in a faster less technical league I think he’ll flourish.”
@gaino92 agreed, saying: “Lad looks like a beast in the air going off tonight as well.”
“Looks really good in the air. Something which Beto isn’t,” @mhart89efc said.
@jaybeerex claimed “One thing that was obvious, he gets involved, he works and grinds and is constantly looking for space and an opportunity, as long as he does that in the right parts of the pitch and we tether him to the right areas, goals will come.”
@lm05101 is getting excited, as he said: “I think we’ve got a really physically gifted striker if we get him in, with a very high ceiling. Room to work on his finishing but he’s only 22. Work rate, movement in the box, aerial threat all top notch already.”
@jvblueboy wants the deal done: “Looks a very decent player in the making. He’s absolutely the type of player we should be signing.”

Barry’s off-the-ball work could be crucial to Everton
The Villarreal striker has proved his worth for club, and shown his glimmers for country during this tournament.
It will be unfortunate for Everton fans not to see the Frenchman face England this Sunday in the final, but instead fans can turn attention to target Nick Woltemade who’s shone for Germany.
Meanwhile though, it’s certainly important to take into account just how good Barry has been off-the-ball this season.
| Barry’s off-the-ball statistics for Villareal in 24/25 | |
| Duels won | 179 |
| Aerial duels won | 102 |
| Aerial duels won % | 66.7% |
| Aerial duels won per 90 | 3.95 |
| Recoveries | 36 |
It’s said that Barry’s deal could be completed in days, and this strength can be used to a tee by Moyes in the Premier League.
