‘I think he’s’… Everton fans are all starting to say the same thing about £33m transfer target Thierno Barry

Everton are in the market for a centre-forward this summer transfer window.

The lack of goals really started to plague Everton towards the end of the season, and as such, David Moyes has made attacking targets a priority.

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin set to leave Everton, it’s become apparent that a number nine is needed urgently.

Ideally, the Toffees will have their man in for the start of pre-season, which gets underway in a matter of weeks.

With that said, it’s being reported that Moyes is eyeing a £33m move for Thierno Barry, who enjoyed a prolific season with Villarreal last term.

Fans have been watching Thierno Barry’s highlight reels over the last couple of weeks and have even had the chance to watch him at the under-21 European Championships.

Worryingly, they’re all starting to say the same thing.

Everton fans are concerned about potential Thierno Barry signing

Everton fans have taken to X, formerly known as Twitter, to voice their concerns about the potential Barry signing.

“Anytime I’ve seen clips of Barry play it’s been slightly underwhelming. For €40m I’d expect a lot more than a temu Beto,” @DanMc1878 posted.

“Too raw mate, pass,” @Ringo8781 added.

@somecallme2019 explained: “At the end of the day for his age he’s going to be rough around the edges and raw. The alternative is to buy an older player. Barry at 20m is probably worth a go, but at 40m I wouldn’t be entertaining it when you have Chermitti.”

“Just start Beto he did enough last season to warrant it,” @Dave86416422 said.

“Yes, me too, I think he’s bog standard. I’d rather take a chance on Woltamade,” @AndrewJohnBarr3 commented.

@coopblue71 noted: “Yeah not seeing anything special.”

Everton’s transfer plans are fluid

Moyes may actually share those same concerns, and the good news is that the club are really ‘fluid’ in their plans this summer.

Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett even maintained that there is yet to be a final decision on Calvert-Lewin’s future.

So it’s evident that they aren’t totally set on landing Barry’s signature and instead are keeping their options open.

Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade has been on Moyes’ radar, too, so they may yet pivot to the towering Germany international.

Nick Woltemade netted 17 goals last term and is attracting interest from some top European sides, with Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and Arsenal circling.
