Everton are set for big changes on Merseyside with a takeover and a new stadium on the way, and fans have been calling for one particular club legend to join the party.

It’s a period of transition for Everton with plenty going on off the field amid uncertain times on the field.

Sean Dyche has been a man under pressure due to the poor start to life on Merseyside this season, with a number of managerial names being linked.

Maurizio Sarri is rumoured to be wanted by The Friedkin Group if their takeover goes through.

However, nothing is certain right now and Dyche has the opportunity to prove everyone wrong by going on a bit of a run.

Interestingly, Everton fans have been more focused on looking at potential new board members on social media.

Tim Cahill put forward for a potential board role at Everton

Tim Cahill is seen as a club legend on Merseyside after making a whopping 278 appearances for the Toffees, scoring 68 goals in the process.

He’s since moved onto punditry and business-related roles, currently working on TV occasionally, as well as being the Technical Director and Advisor to the President at the Qatar Football Association.

With his passion and eye for the game, it’s a surprise to see him out of management.

Everton fans want Tim Cahill as a new board member

Alan Myers claimed that Tim Cahill may have been working on connections for Everton over a potential takeover in Qatar.

Interestingly, Graeme Sharp and the topic of ex-footballers as board members came up on X, which is what made a number of fans put forward Tim Cahill.

“No, no and no. Unless it’s Cahill with proven expertise in business. Legends should be fully utilised and celebrated within the club and community but the board is not the place for them.”, @Grantos888 said.

@WatchedToffee mentioned Cahill already advising behind the scenes at Everton: “Sharp sold his soul to the devil who then burned and chased him. He had nothing to contribute at that level. Another of Bills shields until it didn’t suit anymore. Cahill, maybe. But he’s already advising behind the scenes. Enough of being nice. Get the best for the job in.”

@MichaelShoeBobs stated: “Definitely Tim Cahill but it’s if he’d be any to, seems to have his fingers in all kinds of pies in Qatar.”

@1878UTFT mentioned: “Unless it’s a qualified person like Cahill I think adding an ex-player is really just to give the board good PR.”

“Mayhe Cahill but that’s about it.”, @dazrx8 said.

@_luke1878_ commented: “Probably not, unless it’s Cahill.”

@RbmMemorabilia said. “Cahill or David Weir come to mind immediately.”

@Kevinb1878 mentioned: “Tim Cahill.”
